Your Follow Up Visit

Our goal for treatment of Asthma and Allergies is to control the chronic ongoing symptoms, prevent exacerbations, and aggressively manage to decrease the intensity and duration of any Acute Exacerbations that you may get. For preventive and anticipatory services we give you an appointment on a regular schedule, ranging from every two to every six months. However we are ALWAYS willing to work you into our schedule if you need us before your scheduled appointment.

To get the most from our services you must call us and ask for an earlier than your scheduled appointment in any of the following situations:

1. Anytime your Asthma symptoms are not under good control, especially if you are using your rescue inhaler more often than 2 to 3 times a week (not counting the pre-exercise preventive use), waking up at night to need rescue inhaler, have side effects from medications we prescribed, or having significant reactions from allergy injections.

2. If you feel you are coming down with, or have a Chest Cold that may aggravate your Asthma.

3. If you have had to visit an Urgent Care or Emergency Room for sudden or unanticipated Acute Asthma Exacerbation. For majority of Asthma Exacerbations you can prevent the need to go to Acute Care Facilities if you call and see us in the time before it gets that bad.

4. If your allergy symptoms are worse or poorly controlled despite the medications we prescribed.

5. Any time you notice asthma or allergy symptoms from food allergy, insect sting allergy or drug allergy.

WE WANT YOU TO PROCEED TO THE NEAREST EMERGENCY ROOM OR URGENT CARE FACILITY IF OR WHEN:

1. You have Acute Distress or Severe Symptoms from any illness including Asthma or Allergies.

2. Any time you are considering the use of or have used Epi-Pen (or other Epi injection).

3. If your Asthma or Anaphylaxis Action Plan instructs you to go to the Emergency Room.

The earlier you call in the day the easier it is to work you into our schedule for that day, but we will do our best any time you call.
